This event brings together formidable talents for an evening of exquisite musicianship in The Mackintosh Church.
Tony McManus is globally recognised as a master of the acoustic guitar, hailed by the late John Renbourn as 'the best Celtic guitarist in the world, and listed by Guitar Player Magazine as one of the 50 transcendental guitarists of all time. While Tony is known as a soloist, his frequent collaborations with diverse musicians have always been a significant part of his work. Julia Toaspern is a multi-talented musician from Berlin who combines classical training with an interest in jazz, baroque, and traditional music. Her skills as a guitarist are also prodigious and make an ideal fit with Tony’s own style. Having first met over a conversation about Bach, their arrangements explore new harmonic possibilities in old tunes, delivering a performance rooted in deep musicality and heartfelt expression.
Opening the evening is American-born, Liverpool-based singer-songwriter Danny Bradley. A highly sought-after session player and extraordinary guitarist, Danny’s own 2022 release, Small Talk Songs, established him as a potent creative force.
