I'm delighted to be putting on a course of 10 tutored life drawing classes with artists expert in each topic, which is different every week. Each one is standalone, and to save my poor brain trying to organise spreadsheets for discount block booking, I'm going to offer a Wednesday life drawing session for every 5 tutored classes attended.
(I'll give you a card to tick off at your first session, and if you fill the 5 stampy-spaces you can book a free ticket for any Wednesday session (there's an option for that here on Citizen Ticket), and give your ticked card back to me at the door.)

This session looks at one of the most fundamental hurdles of drawing the figure: gesture. This means describing that the person is DOING - and forgetting the itty bitty details of what they look like - in favour of conveying some of the energy, weight, and general human-ness of their form. For this session we welcome the ultimate queen of gestural life drawing tutoring - Jill Boualaxai from Look & Draw Workshops. Never again will you be faced with a blank piece of paper and not know where to begin! After an introductory slide show looking at gestural drawing in art history, Jill will demonstrate techniques to get you drawing FAST and without the time to be self-critical. Leave those apprehensions at the door- we look forward to welcoming you in.
To give you time to stuck in properly and give the tutor a few mins with each of you, these tutored sessions are limited capacity and slightly longer at 2 hours 15mins: 7pm -9.15pm at Summerhall's Anatomy Lecture Theatre. You're welcome to bring a bevvy in with you from the bar - alcoholic or non. (Brownie points for bringing a keep cup!). The ticket price for these sessions includes materials but feel free to bring your own favoured paraphernalia. We welcome all ages and stages. Any questions just ping me a message!
Booking is essential - these sessions sell out and I'll not be keeping any tickets for the door.
