From Portugal to Hawaii to West Kilbride, the ukulele is enjoying a rise in popularity and this session by the WK ukulele group will reveal why as they present the uke's distinctive sounds in a range of music styles: pop; rock; country, traditional; and Scottish. The group started just over a year ago when a few residents discovered a mutual interest in playing the instrument and has grown so rapidly that they now meet every Thursday in the back room of the King's Arms. There is a strong uke network in North Ayrshire and here in WK the group benefits from support from groups in Largs, Lochwinnoch and Troon.
If you want to join in, bring your uke, guitar and/or voice and learn more about or be part of the latest 'music' phenomenon to hit West Kilbride then come along on the 1st and any other Thursday in the back room of the King's Arms: 7.00pm for a 7.15pm start and finish at 9pm. You are assured of a warm welcome.
