Do you have a favourite nature spot? Whether it’s a seascape or landscape, join our wet felting workshop and learn how to make a wet felted piece recreating a real or imagined vista using natural and recycled material with the Edinburgh Remakery and local felt company, Fluffy Felts!
We want to show how you can take old scrap materials – such as the yarn from old jumpers – and turn it into something beautiful.
Wet felting involves layering wool roving and ‘trapping’ materials within it, such as shells and rope, and working the wool in soapy water to bind it all together to create stunning designs and unique decorative pieces.
We will use wool from a local farm and recycled or collected materials, such as shells, rope, netting, yarn and scrap materials, from local nature spots. You are welcome to bring your own materials and items to be included in your design (only small amounts are needed) but plenty of materials will also be provided for you.
This workshop is ideal for beginners or those who have done traditional felting before and want to try their hand at something a bit different. You will learn the very addictive art of wet felting and get the opportunity to use interesting reclaimed materials to create a beautifully textured finished design which you can then frame or display on a piece of driftwood as a wall hanging. Also makes a great gift!
