The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Arts invited Sean Ellcombe to produce a new solo show at the Kelly Gallery in October 2020. Window Works is a series of new, large scale painting works by Ellcombe submerged into the gallery walls.
Ellcombe is a Glasgow born and based artist, who graduated painting from the Glasgow School of Art in 2019. Since graduating, he has been actively nurturing a painting practice, one which investigates the physiologies of the painting in tandem with how a viewer physically engages with the surface. This is an active and playful invitation to engage the viewer with painting as an accepted material. It is Ellcombe’s belief to challenge traditional expectations of both the artwork and the viewer - with painting being archaically a known pathfinder to a working idea of art.
Please note, viewing is by appointment only due to the current climate.
