It’s World Porridge Day on Tuesday 10 October and to celebrate, we’re taking you back in time to experience the changes that are afoot in the New Abbey Corn Mill.
As we take you back to the year 1851, you’ll get to meet Alexander Miller and hear about the heightening and re-ordering building work that is going on at the mill that his father Thomas worked in from 1825.
Listen as Alexander tells you about the demolition of the medieval mill and the re-building of this one in 1790.
Join us and learn about the ‘Thirlage’ Act of 1799 and the abolishment of laws that have existed for centuries.
