Claire Grandemange runs Henry's Cellar Bar and has been one of the unsung heroes of Edinburgh music for years and years.
She used to book a lot of the gigs which drew me into underground music in the first place, and then I promoted at Henry's for years, where her and Nora were an absolute joy to work with. And a lot of the time we put on some abrasive, confrontational music, which people didn't necessarily get. But bands like Zed Penguin and Plastic Animals started out opening bills for us at Henry's in early, somewhat tentative stripped down forms. They developed, came back and played more, I got to know them, and they went on to release records with us and headline the place themselves.
In many ways our recording space is the beating heart of the label, but for years it was Henry's Cellar Bar and all the gigs we put on there.
