Christie the Baker is a traditional high street baker with shops in Airdrie and Coatbridge. We source local produce when we can including our meat, milk, flour and fruit. We best known for our Scotch pies, a winner in the World Scotch Pie Champion award. At the Scottish Baker of the Year awards our Plain bread and Morning rolls were voted “Best in Scotland” and we won the National Gold award for our Celebration cakes.
With over 40 members of staff, some of whom have been with us over 25 years, we are a well established team with baking apprenticeships offered to our newer staff members. The shops are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 4.30pm and on a Saturday from 8:30am until 4pm.
Christie the Baker is at the heart of its local community; from sponsoring local amateur dramatic societies, bowling clubs, Albion Rovers and Airdrie FC Football teams to making donations to local charities and school fundraisers.
Andrew Chisholm is the owner of Christie the Baker and has been in the industry for over 37 years, starting as an apprentice at 16 with his father and grandfather also bakers. Andrew took over the bakery in 2012, he is extremely passionate about baking with huge knowledge of fermentation, tradition and the baking industry as a whole.
Andrew is a member of the Scottish Bakers Association and when not working, loves to run, golf, watch rugby and spend time with his wife, family and friends.
