Damascus drum cafe and books provides a setting where people of the town and wayfarers meet and enjoy one another's company with good coffee, tea and light meals, fairtrade and homeproduced.
In the tradition of coffee houses worldwide, it is a place for all manner of conviviality and conversation. The cafe hosts 'open mike' nights, readings and book launches for local musicians, poets and writers.
Where possible and practical we use meat from local farms, local free-range chickens and eggs and fresh vegetables for the dishes prepared on our premises. We cook with virgin olive oil & butter.
All our coffee and hot chocolate are ethically and fairly traded. We have a large stock of unusual second-hand books, which you are welcome to brouse and buy. We also have a good selection of beautiful hand-made rugs from Anatolia.
We wish this little café
to be a fun and friendly place
where you can come for a chat
have a quiet read
fall in love
or just relax…
The damascus drum is here simply for the pleasure of it
