Set on the small peninsula of land jutting out into Brewick bay in Lerwick Fjara has amazing views for you to enjoy in all weathers and at all times of the day. It is a great wild life spot with plenty of opportunity to spot seals and otters in the surrounding area.
With a simple but effective menu, which changes seasonally, Fjara aims to bring different taste and cuisines to Shetland, getting the most from seasonal fruit and vegetables. All our baked goods are freshly made every morning on site, from our fantastic cheese and bacon bloomer to our sweet blueberry pancakes.
Fjarå Café Bar prides itself in proving bistro style food using the best local produce Shetland has to offer. Whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, a light snack or a sweet treat Fjarå has it covered.
Our core evening menu focuses on seafood, delivered fresh every day, carefully prepared and given a unique individual twist. Our head Chef Colin Maclean has been in the trade for over 25 years, working across Scotland and he prides himself in bringing new and inventive dishes to Shetland.
Our evening menus change seasonally in order to get the best from the ingredients we use, and our dishes are constructed so as to offer something for those with differing dietary needs. A wide range of GF, vegetarian and vegan options are available.
At lunchtime we offer a range of sandwiches and lighter dishes, again focusing on using local, fresh and seasonal produce. Our aim is to produce a menu which mixes contemporary with traditional, allowing our customers to be tempted by dishes that they can’t find elsewhere on the Island.
If you are looking for a sweet treat, Fjarå offers a range of freshly baked cakes to tempt you. Our bakers work in house every day, trying new ideas while also offering tried and tested favourites. From vanilla cream éclairs, to carrot cake, we have your indulges covered.
If all that wasn’t enough, remember children under 2 eat free from the kids menu at Fjarå!
Whilst developing the concept of Fjarå we wanted to create a venue that would accommodate all age groups, day and night, as such, we built a drinks menu to mirror this.
Like our food offering Fjarå has worked with local suppliers in order to highlight the best beer and spirits the Island has to offer. We stock the full range of Lerwick Brewery beers, including 60 North, Tushkar, Azure and Skippers Ticket. In addition to this we have recently brought in the award winning Shetland Reel Gin and Whisky range for you to sample. Fjarå is also the only outlet on the Island to offer Peroni on tap.
For those of you looking for a stronger indulgence we have a range of carefully constructed cocktails, including Apple Mojitos, Fruit Daiquiris, Martinis and the traditional Cosmopolitan.
If this doesn’t temp you, we have a full range of red/white & rose wine for you to enjoy day or night.
Behind any good Café Bar, is a great coffee. Ours is a delicate blend of Brazilian, El Salvador and Indian bean that give a full-bodied smooth coffee without bitterness, and with a hint of caramel and dark chocolate notes. Ground on site, it ensures fresh coffee every time.
Whether enjoyed in a small or large cup, our coffee deliveries a sure caffeine kick to start your day, encourage your afternoon or boost your evenings. For those of you looking for a more mellow experience we offer a decaffeinate option, which gives just as much in flavour even without the caffeine.
We also stock a large range of syrups, from peppermint to vanilla, for those of you willing to try something new. All of this can be enjoyed either in house, with the specular view, or on the go, for those of you who have less time on their hands.
We hope you will come and visit us soon.
