Set among peace and tranquility the Glenurquhart House Hotel and Lodges nestle on a secluded wooded hillside in a 6 acre estate with scenic views of Loch Meikle and Glen Urquhart. Here you will find some of the most spectacular Scottish scenery.
Opposite the hotel and lodges you will find the Glenurquhart forest and mountain bike trails. About 5 miles to the west is Cannich which leads to the Glen Affric National Nature Reserve where there are lovely walks through ancient Caledonian pinewoods and across open moorland which provide the opportunity to enjoy all sorts of wildlife and unspoilt splendour.
Also close by at Corrimony are Chambered Cairns and an RSPB bird reserve. We are ideally situated for exploring the Highlands of Scotland; day trips might include visits to the Isle of Skye, a trip to the Highland capital of Inverness or a boat trip to spot Dolphins on the Moray Firth. We cater for couples, families and small parties.
Our style is informal, with a mix of traditional and modern décor. The dining room has an intimate and relaxed atmosphere with stunning views of Loch Meikle. A house speciality is Glenurquhart Steak: fillet steak on a bed of haggis and mash with a Glenurquhart whisky sauce.
Ghillies Lair Restaurant at the Glenurquhart House Hotel offers lovely views over Loch Meikle and is situated in the picturesque Glen Urquhart. The dishes are freshly prepared and the homemade bread is a speciality of the house.
Baked Mushroom filled with Haggis served with a Creamy Whisky sauce:
"Good visual appearance with the light colour of the sauce against the darker Haggis. Served on a shallow white soup plate." "Very good quality Haggis used" "Good flavour, I could detect the Whisky in the sauce. Smooth consistency." "Good balance of textures."
