Ranched on the sea-bed as nature intended, Sconser Scallops supply the finest king scallops in the world. All of our scallops are twice dived, shallow water finished, which produces a firmer flesh and succulent flavour.
Diver harvested from the plankton-rich waters of Loch Sligachan, then supplied to most of the fine-dining restaurants and hotels on the Isle of Skye (list available on our website).
At the foot of the Cuillin mountains, Loch Sligachan, the place of shells (Gaelic translation), is dark and cold in the winter when Glamaig blocks the sun and snow-melt chills the sea. The work is extreme in winter when the surface water is just above freezing, but heavenly in summer when our island is kissed by the Gulf Stream.
Sconser Scallops production is truly sustainable, if we swam away they would continue to thrive and flourish without us.
We also sell direct to the public 'live in shell' straight from the sea. Minimum order is £20, collected from Sconser. We harvest to order, so please get in touch first (48 hours notice is best). Please remember to bring a water-proof container.
