In the heart of the west mainland of Orkney the Smithfield is situated in the village of Dounby, this family run hotel is surrounded by many archaeological sites, RSPB reserves and well stocked brown trout lochs.
The restaurant is open daily and features panoramic pictures of Orkney at its best. We specialise in providing top quality Orkney produce, all our food is homemade and cooked fresh to order with all manner of dietary requirements catered. Opening Times: April - Sept: 6pm - 9pm, Oct - Mar: 6pm-8pm
The café opened Easter 2012 and is situated on the front of the hotel with a great view to watch the world go by. The café offers an extensive menu, speciality coffees, fabulous homebakes and a range of homemade gluten free cakes. Opening Times 11am - 3pm Daily
The public bar is a warm traditional bar with a pool table, 2 dart boards, juke box and the all important Sky Sports; a must for all sporting fans - all sports channels are available. Orkney is well known for its quality whiskeys and beers and we stock a fine collection of Highland Park & Scapa whiskeys and Orkney Brewery & Swanney Beers.
Throughout the year we have music by local artists and the busiest day of the year is in August with the West Mainland Agricultural Show otherwise known as the Dounby Show. The Smithfield hosts the open air dance in the evening, all are welcome so come and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
The bar is open daily and you can enjoy a drink at any time of the day and share stories with the friendly local characters.
