Welcome to The Barn Bar. We are a rural pub and although it may feel like we are in the heart of the countryside, Oban town centre is less than 2.5 miles by road. You can also walk over the hill from Oban (via Gallanach Farm).
An award winning rustic bar and restaurant converted from an old cattle byre - the slate cattle stalls are still there and the pub has a rural charm and character that is unique! The Barn Bar was the 2014 Scottish Pub of the Year for the North West Region (The Food Awards) and is currently the CAMRA Scottish Pub of the Year for Argyll. It is also a member of 'Taste our Best' and its reputation for good, homecooked food has grown over the years. The pub is small and tables should be booked ahead - essential at the weekends and during the summer season. As a country pub the Barn Bar is delighted to welcome pets (on a lead) with their owners. We also welcome children and have a WEAN's MAINS menu just for them.
The kitchen team make as much as possible in house from local produce and local producers. We offer pub classics and a Taste our Best blackboard specials - which changes daily and features food grown, raised or caught locally. We also offer homemade Tablet and Shortbread, which can be purchased to take home as a gift.
The pub has a covered patio area with an outside wood burning stove. The playpark is next door and there are fantastic forest walks from the car park and access to fishing on the loch above the farm. Our boat can be hired - see the bar staff for details.
We are the local pub for our glen and there are always interesting characters to talk to at the bar. We also have live music on Sunday afternoons as local musicians gather for their regular Sunday Sessions through out the year and during the summer season there is also live music on a Thursday night with our resident house band - The Hollow Mountain String Band.
