As the name suggests, this building was a former boathouse used to house launch boats from steam yachts that visited the estate in the Victorian era. When roads where built to Kingairloch, steam yachts became obsolete and the boathouse became a redundant building.
In 2008 the building underwent major renovation works to turn a severely derelict shell of a building into a delightful romantic restaurant that is well supported by guests, locals and visiting yachts.
Today the bistro is ran by residents of Kingairloch using the finest ingredients from local waters and the hills, farm and garden at Kingairloch. Dining is relaxed and informal, and you will be met with a warm welcome. Morning coffee, lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals are served from Thursday-Sunday (please note, evening meals are not available on a Sunday). Due to the location of The Boathouse, booking in advance is advised, especially for evening meals.
There are also free visitor moorings that people who are sailing the West Coast are very welcome to use.
