The Horseshoe Restaurant with Rooms has been reviewed for its inimitable style, its outstanding food and its refreshingly unpretentious yet polished service in The Times, The Scotsman and numerous national and international magazines.
The Horseshoe Restaurant with Rooms has eight double rooms which have been awarded 4 Gold Stars by The AA Guide and Visit Scotland.
The bedrooms have been created from the beautifully restored Victorian village school house which sits just behind the Horseshoe Restaurant which is southern Scotland's most sought after boutique fine dining destination.
The bedrooms though modest in size all have en-suite showers, bathrobes, organic toiletries, mineral water and tea and coffee making trays with fresh milk. Breakfast at the Horseshoe is a meal considered as important for us as dinner and we have received an annual award in 2013, 2014 and 2015 following inspection, from the AA Guide for our outstanding breakfasts
The restaurant, luxuriously furnished with candle-lit antique polished wood tables and striking works of modern art, is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday until Sunday. Because everything is fresh there are changes to the menus on a daily basis. There is also a charming flag-stoned lounge with luxurious sofas, chesterfields and a wood burning stove. The restaurant is in all the principal food guides and it is recommended that tables are booked in advance, especially at the weekends.
You’ll find a local guide written by the General Manager in your bedroom with suggestions for walks and sight-seeing, along with numerous novels and travel books to Scotland. Bring a book with you across to the lounge and curl up before the wood burning stove and plan your time in the Scottish Borders. One of the team is always on hand throughout the day if you fancy a pot of tea, glass of wine or a wee dram.
