The beach stretches from Belhaven to the north of the River Tyne. It is fringed by low, sheltering sand dunes, rich salt marsh and colourful grasslands. The beach is ideal for walking, having picnics and sunbathing and affords splendid views across the Forth Estuary. There is a cliff top walk by Dunbar which passes the harbour and ruined castle. There is a new interpretation centre to John Muir and also a town house museum.
Belhaven Bay is also a fantastic place to do some surfing. Learn all the basics from expert instructors, rent equipment or enjoy a tour of the coastline at Coast to Coast Surf School.
