The society's online and physical archives, located in Galashiels, can help you to research family roots in and around the Scottish Borders.
The Borders Family History Society helps people to trace their ancestors from the Border counties of Berwick, Peebles, Roxburgh and Selkirk. As well as an extensive online resource, they also have their own archive and research room at 52 Overhaugh Street, in the centre of Galashiels.
Visitors will find the society collection of Borders family history material and publications, which can be purchased.
Staffed by local volunteers with in-depth knowledge of the area and expert in researching family history. In addition to records for the family historian, the library has a wide range of family and local history books.
Opening times vary. Open Tuesday, Thursday 10am - 4pm. Closed over Christmas and New Year. Also 2023 Summer Saturdays 10am - 4pm.
Visitors are also welcome to attend the society’s regular talks and events.
