Bowhill is a five star visitor attraction and magical day out for the whole family. Attractions at Bowhill include guided House tours, theatre, adventure playground, walking trails, ranger-led activities and events, tearoom, gift shop and soft play
Discover Bowhill, the Scottish Borders' hidden treasure...
Beside winding glens and heathery hills, an enchanting Country Estate full of activities awaits you! You'll find waymarked walks with stunning views and wildlife, beautiful gardens, tree trails, fishing and a fantastic adventure playground for little ones. There's even soft play for the under 6s and an award-winning Ranger service who often run events (see website for further details).
On special dates throughout the year, Bowhill House opens its doors for guided tours where you can see items from the world-renowned Buccleuch art collection. You'll find masterworks by Canaletto, Raeburn, Reynolds and Gainsborough alongside beautiful silverware, porcelain and French furniture. Relics of the Duke of Monmouth, Queen Victoria and Sir Walter Scott are also on display.
Even when the House isn't open you can find out more about the history and heritage of the family and house in our new exhibition, Love and Respect in the Victorian Age. Discover the story of the 5th Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch - the real story that is - not how the Duchess is depicted on the hit ITV show Victoria!
In the Courtyard you can refresh yourself with home baking or lunch in the Minstrel Tearoom, visit the historic Victorian kitchen and browse the Gift Shop with its fantastic selection of products from Scottish gifts to Bowhill branded merchanidse.
For more than seven centuries the Scotts of Buccleuch have been part of Scottish Borders history and their principal house, Bowhill is today home to the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry and a part of the internationally renowned Buccleuch art collection.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bowhill soon.
