Dalkeith Country Park is a special destination unlike any other. Our mission is to make you happy, inspire you and deliver an exceptional day out. You'll find the magical Fort Douglas adventure park alongside Restoration Yard, a gorgeous store, restaurant and wellbeing space in the former eighteenth century stableyard and Tuscan-inspired courtyard which has been lovingly restored.
We are open with safety measures in place and the Good To Go Scheme certification. Please book online for Fort Douglas and The Kitchen restaurant and take a moment to read our safety measures before visiting.
There's also the wider park to discover with architecture to admire and waymarked walking and cycling trails to suit the whole family. Explore the Old Oak Wood with trees over 900 years old, meander along the river, enjoy a picnic, or simply breathe in the fresh air of this beautiful country park, which you'll find hard to believe is just a few miles from Edinburgh's city centre. Admire the historic architecture built by ancestors of the Buccleuch family who still own the estate to this day, by famous Scottish architects such as James Smith, Robert Adam and William Burn. Or enjoy a little nature spotting on a walk – roe deer, otters, badgers and buzzards all call the park home.
Come on it, explore, have some fun. You’ll love what you find.
