The course is laid out on pleasant parkland with mature woodland. It’s reasonably flat and the greens and fairways are kept in immaculate condition.
The Dumfries & Galloway hosts the 36 hole scratch event Sutherland Chalice each year, which is open to amateurs with a handicap of 4 strokes or less.
The club has a thriving junior section and an excellent professional shop, with coaching available through linkage with nearby Tower Wood Golf Centre.
Booking is advisable in the summer months and at the weekends. Visitor tee times are 0930 - 1130 and 1330 - 1530. Golfing parties are accepted.
Course Highlight
The 10th is a challenging par 4 measuring 406 yards named after the course designer and Open Champion winner Willie Fernie. A par is always a good score at this hole, starting off with a drive over a pond, with the second over another pond to a green well protected by bunkers.
Perfect Partner
Play all three Dumfries courses, by adding Dumfries and County and the Crichton to your schedule.
