Ecosse Mountains is based in the Scottish Highland village of Grantown on Spey, within the Cairngorm National Park. The company was set up in 2003 by Kevin Rutherford. Kevin holds the highest level of mountaineering qualification recognised in the UK, Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and is a full member of AMI, The Association of Mountaineering Instructors. Since 2003, Kevin has been providing professional courses in the Cairngorms, Ben Nevis, Glencoe, the Isle of Skye, the Orkney Islands and in Norway, where he runs the Norway Ice course based in Rjukan.
Ecosse Mountains specialise in private mountain guiding and instructional courses. In Winter all courses are based in and around the Northern Corries of Cairngorm and the Cairngorm Plateau, a huge expanse at an altitude of around 1000m. An amazing and challenging environment which has been used as a training ground for the bigger mountain ranges for decades. Scottish mixed and ice climbing courses at introductory and advanced levels, Winter Mountaineering and Winter Skills, for all abilities. Rjukan in Norway provides a venue for the Norway Ice courses which gives quick and easy access together with consistent water ice conditions, introductory to advanced levels.
In Summer we provide walking, scrambling and rock climbing courses all over the Scottish Highlands & Islands, including guided courses on the Isle of Skye and the Black Cuillin.
Other mountaineering options are available through bespoke bookings ie a days guided walk on Ben Macdui or Ben Nevis, scramble Curved Ridge in Glen Coe or rock climb on Stac Pollaidh in the NW Highlands, all dependent on your individual or group needs.
