Leave the world behind and immerse yourself into the experiences which two of the most beautiful Scottish islands hold for you. Take time out to deeply connect to sea, land and spirit whilst living within a small community. Each of these ancient islands holds a unique spiritual energy and magic, and Iona is just across the sea from Erraid. So why not stay for a few weeks, explore the secrets of both and see how they sing to your soul in their own special ways?
Iona - our retreat house Traigh Bhan
Our retreat house lies on the peaceful northern shores of the holy Isle of Iona. Iona has been a place of sacred pilgrimage for all faiths for millennia and still welcomes pilgrims from all over the world. Traigh Bhan offers a quiet haven away from the bustling village, where we welcome up to six participants for our ‘Spirit of Iona’ weeks in spring and summer. Throughout the week we explore the spiritual heritage of the island, connect to our own inner calling, and practice living within a small community for a week. There will be time to meditate, share stories and spiritual practice, cook and eat together, solitary walks on the white sandy beaches surrounded by turquoise waters, bonfires and song and much more … Let Traigh Bhan be a sanctuary for your soul.
Erraid - our small island community
Our small community on the Isle of Erraid welcomes participants all year round. They share their old lighthouse keepers’ cottages with you and provide fresh and delicious food from their organic gardens. You’ll be invited to join the community’s daily meditations, group sharings and celebrations of the Celtic Festivals. If you choose you can support their ‘work as love in action’ by helping in the gardens, kitchen, splitting wood etc. While you have the option to be immersed in community life you will also have time to retreat to explore the rugged island shores, sit by the wood burning stoves, do your own spiritual practice, write, read or do whatever your heart desires. The Erraid community offers: Experience Week, Celtic Festival Weeks, Love in Action Weeks and Retreat Weeks.
Both islands are in view of each other, so close and yet so different that you might like to experience both during your West Coast adventure …
No matter if you choose to visit one island or both you will have time to explore spiritual practices like meditation and personal sharings, practice community living and support daily tasks in a smaller group on Iona or in a slightly larger group on Erraid, and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to spend time in the stunning landscape of the west coast of Scotland.
