The forest encompasses Elibank and Traquair forests to form the largest woodland in the Tweed Valley. Innerleithen forest is home to the 7stanes at Innerleithan mountain biking centre, one of the finest downhill mountain biking trails in the world. The centre offers many exciting, adrenaline-pumping routes and has been a popular downhill race venue for many years. The forest also popular with walkers as the Southern Upland Way long distance footpath passes nearby.
Innerleithan town is only a short 10 minute walk from the forest. Highlights in the area include Scotland’s oldest house, Traquair House, which dates back to 1107. This beautiful building was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. Innerleithan also has attractive 9-hole golf course.
