Established in 2005, Kilchoman pronounced (Kil-ho-man) is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Based on a farm on the rugged west coast of Islay, Kilchoman was the first distillery to be built on the island for over 124 years. Kilchoman displays all that is great about the grass-rootstraditions of Scotch whisky distilling. As well as being one of only a handful of distilleries still practicing floor malting, barley is also grown on the farm, making Kilchoman the only Islay distillery to complete all parts of the whisky making process on site. Kilchoman Truly is Islay's Farm Distillery.
Road
The service bus stops at the road end but does not continue up to the distillery. From the main road, it is a five mile journey along a single track road. The road is winding and uneven so care should be taken. If you are driving slow there are numerous passing places that you may use to allow other vehicles to over take.
Transport
We recommend booking a taxi in advance to visit our distillery if required. Our nominated taxi provider is Bruichladdich Taxis 07899942673 | 01496 850 271.
