If Robert the Bruce had been a golfer, this would have been his home course. The site of his castle is close to the second green, and from the third hole you can see the remains of the defensive motte.
This course is as famous for its picturesque loch side setting and friendliness, as it is for its historical connections. A very popular, well presented course with superb greens, Lochmaben is suited to all handicappers and is conveniently located for the M74.
There are a couple of challenging par threes early on, settling down to a good, fair parkland course that skirts around the edge of the loch.
Lochmaben Golf Course is a rewarding experience for any golfer. It’s one of the best examples of a parkland course in the area and is playable all year round.
The par 3 8th is without a doubt the signature hole, requiring a tee shot over water across the corner of Kirk Loch.
Combine with Colvend and Thornhill for a satisfying and memorable trilogy of courses.
