Mains of Taymouth Golf Course (fromerly known as Kenmore Golf Course) 'Perthshire's Finest 9 Holes' was opened in 1992 in the Heart of Highland Perthshire by the banks of the silvery Tay. The design of the golf course was quite straight forward as the landscape was, almost unbelievably, perfect for a good quality golf course. The mildly undulating fields, the natural mounds with mature Scots Pine (roundels) and the ditch and dyke boundaries (Ha-Ha) allowed the layout to follow and utilise the natural features.
Mains of Taymouth Golf Course has already matured into a first class course and the head green keeper, Douglas MacGregor, ensures that the course is always in first class condition. Visitors are always welcome and tend to come back again and again.
The course at 6052 yards is no push over. The par 5 fourth is 560 yards and only one of the par 4's, the 2nd, is under 400 yards. The second is, however, one of the nicest holes you could imagine - teeing up hitting out of a mound of trees down a snaking fairway which banks encourage the ball to keep on the fairway and the green is slightly elevated surrounded by banks to help hold the ball on the green.
The fairways are generous and the rough kept short which tends to encourage an unhindered round. The course is a fair test of golf in magnificent surroundings.
Club, trolley & buggy hire available.
