Standing in the Old Town Cemetery in Stirling, the monument commemorates the young Scottish Convenanter, Margaret Willson.
Margaret Willson, from Wigtown in Galloway, refused to swear an oath declaring King James VII as the head of the church for which she was executed by drowning. Her death became part of the martyrology of Presbyterian churches and consequently Margaret was declared the most famous of the Wigtown Martyrs.
