It is undulating, hilly in parts, tree lined and well maintained with some superb views across the City of Edinburgh. It is a short, quirky course featuring a few blind shots that will tempt the ambitious visitor, while encompassing a mixture of rewarding and punishing holes. There are no par fives, although seven par threes allow the low handicapper to have a go at a few pins, while providing the mid-high handicapper with the opportunity to play to his/her handicap. The rough is not particularly punishing and there are only a few bunkers or artificially created hazards, so it should be an enjoyable round played over natural terrain.
