One of the very few Ovnis in the world available for charter, our yacht Fidelio offers a truly unique chance to explore the west coast and islands of Scotland.
We are based on the island of Kerrera, just off Oban. You will sail waters that are sometimes challenging yet some of the most beautiful in the world.
With their lifting keel and rudder, Ovnis offer sailors the opportunity to get closer inshore than other yachts, making more anchorages accessible and your dinghy crossing to shore shorter!
Most charterers explore both the Inner and the Outer Hebrides. Sufficiently experienced crews can visit St Kilda in the right weather conditions. Alternatively, you can sail north to Orkney and Shetland, with a circuit through the Caledonian Canal, or visit Northern Ireland if you prefer.
Fidelio is coded for up to eight people although six is more comfortable. She is well set up for all types of adventurous yet comfortable and safe sailing.
We have tried to keep Fidelio with the feel of our family yacht, which she was before we started chartering in 2018. We have continuously maintained and upgraded the boat and the equipment onboard, from both a sailing perspective and as a comfortable boat to live aboard. We provide a comprehensive and detailed skipper's manual and inventory. Details and photos of the boat can be found on our website, www.islandsail.scot .
Your holiday will start from Oban, which is a lovely town in the heart of the west Highlands, readily accessible by rail or road. Leaving Oban you are immediately sailing amongst the islands. You could never tire of finding more places and anchorages to explore. There are historic yet now uninhabited islands that are wonderful to explore, yet barely accessible by other means.
The waters off the west coast of Scotland are beautiful and challenging, with a range of sailing and weather conditions. Yet, due to the large number of islands, sea conditions are usually farely flat and you are rarely far from shelter. Potential charterers are strongly advised to read the details on our website, www.islandsail.scot.
If you love exploring, adventuring, historic places, wildlife and the beauty and stillness of remote places, then sailing Fidelio around the Scottish islands may be your perfect holiday.
You will quickly realise there is no shortage of ideas about where to go. We can help you with ideas of potential itineraries and are available to support you throughout your holiday.
Whilst many of our charterers provide their own sufficiently qualified and experienced skipper and first mate themselves, Neil, the co-owner, can act as skipper (at additional cost) to an active crew with some experience, who want to be physically involved in sailing the boat.
We have found that nearly everyone who has sailed Fidelio has been very impressed by her performance, comfort and equipment. If you are interested in sailing Fidelio please look at our website and get in touch.
