Welcome to New Caledonian Woodlands, an Edinburgh based environmental charity and social enterprise aimed at reconnecting people with the great outdoors. Whether it's carving a spoon or planting a tree, be prepared to feel great doing it.
New Caledonian Woodlands is a charity and social enterprise that delivers projects aimed at reconnecting people with the outdoors and embracing Scottish woodland culture.
Whether planting new woodland or managing old ones, making furniture from trees felled by hand, pressing hand-picked apples for juice or learning more about our environmental impact and how to reduce it, New Caledonian Woodlands is busy in the woods most days - working with over 1000 people per year.
Experience the real outdoors and help preserve Scottish woodlands on our Woodland Weekends, which are all about escaping city life and discovering unexplored corners of Scotland. Be prepared to get your hands dirty carrying out important sustainable woodland management activities, followed by some fun and hot food around the camp fire after a fulfilling day's work. Ticket prices include transport to and from the centre of Edinburgh, acommodation, food, drinks and expert guidance.
We also also deliver one or two day 'Re-skilling' workshops which aim to pass on crafts, skill and knowledge, celebrating the amazing range of stories and experiences people have to share. From green wood carving to Iron Age round house building, we have a range of unique opportunites to reconnect wth the outdoors and feel great doing it. Workshops our held in our charity's green hub site, just a mile from Edinburgh city centre. Lunch, teas, coffees, snacks and expert guidance are provided in the price.
