Newburgh Handloom Weavers

Newburgh Handloom Weavers are Jimmy Hutchison and Erika Douglas. We specialise in producing high quality, handwoven tweed and blankets. Our Weaving Shed is situated by the River Tay, in the North-East of Fife in Scotland.

Our cloth is entirely hand-woven on traditional wooden handlooms which were built by Thomas Kennedy of Galashiels, a loom maker established in 1870.

We produce a wide range of handwoven, traditional style tweed and blankets, including bespoke tweeds and cloth designed and made to order for both individual and commercial clients.

We weave our cloth using pure new wool which produces a warm and fine, yet hard-wearing cloth perfect for tailoring, dress-making, upholstery and furnishings.

We are passionate about heritage, quality and sustainability and keeping tradition and traditional skills alive. Newburgh Handloom Weavers was founded in 2017 with the aim of building a long-term sustainable business, involving a sense of heritage and love of wool, and together we are continuing to produce a range of woven products in this time-honoured way.
