Based in the village of Torphins, Platform 22 is a community based arts centre and cultural exchange with facilities that include an art gallery, ceramics studio and coffee house.
Platform 22 opened sits on the former site of Torphins railway station; remnants of the old Deeside line are still evident in the area. The centre is the perfect place to experience the culture and hospitality of rural Aberdeenshire and discover the rich and diverse heritage of the hills and glens of Deeside.
The gallery features work by local artists and craft-makers in a wide range of media and materials. The work on show changes throughout the year and the centre is also host to several special exhibitions.
Ceramics are something of a speciality at Platform 22 with their own studio where gallery owner and ceramicist Emma Pattullo produces a range of wares and from where she runs a variety of popular pottery classes.
There is also a coffee house onsite where visitors can relax and enjoy a steaming cappuccino or revive themselves with an espresso and one of the famous "gooey" chocolate brownies.
