There’s something ‘fishy’ going on in the coastal village of Port Logan on the beautiful Galloway Coast in South West Scotland. At the end of the spectacular sandy beach in Port Logan there is a pretty whitewashed cottage with a quaint turret. A secret awaits you inside this cottage which is perched on the rocks by the sea. This is home to Port Logan Fishpond which is a unique Scottish Visitor Attraction.
The Fishpond is created from a natural feature of the rocky coastline and was originally used as a sea fish larder for the Laird of Logan. It is the oldest and most unique natural marine 'aquarium' in the UK.
Port Logan Fishpond is now home to a wide range of sea fish and marine life including rays, cod, pollock, turbot, mullet, starfish, hermit crabs and more!
Visit this unusual Visitor Attraction to learn more about the history of the Fishpond and to meet the inhabitants.
The Fishpond also has a gift shop selling locally produced arts and crafts, gifts, souvenirs and postcards, fishing tackle and bait (fresh bait on a Thursday). Parking is free and dogs on a lead are welcome too!
