Our seaside town has a rich history - from Dinosaurs & warriors, Kings and Queens to world famous artists and musicians. Come along on one of our 2 hour walking tours and learn about Skye’s early clan days, the local ‘friendly’ ghosts, walk in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie and discover why our Island has become so popular with Hollywood legends like Steven Spielberg and Keanu - then perhaps enjoy a local whiskey or two (no one’s counting!)
Starting in the centre of Portree at Somerled Square War Memorial, we will stroll to our first viewpoint at ‘The Lump’ to take in the dramatic views from Portree’s 19th Century watchtower. Standing here you will see all the way from the Old Man of Storr in the North, to the Cuillin Mountain range in the South. From there we will stop off at various locations along our route to explain some of the ancient local histories and show you some of the natural features of the surrounding landscapes. The tour will end at Portree Pier taking in the views of the harbour, watching fishermen landing their catches and returning to sea.
Many people can trace their ancestry back to our amazing Island, those who cant still leave with a deep affection for the mountains and coastlines that define our Island. We can't wait to share our story with you!
The walk is set at a leisurely pace on well-defined paths and roads. There are a few steeper inclines so please wear comfortable shoes.
