The River Ayr rises from Glenbuck Loch in East Ayrshire and makes its way to South Ayrshire through Failford, Stair, Annbank and the estate of Auchincruive.
A joy for anglers, the River Ayr is a good all round water, having runs of salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling.
The river passes close to or through the villages of Muirkirk, Sorn, Catrine and Annbank before flowing into the Firth of Clyde at Ayr.
