External access to this site is possible from 9.30am to 5pm. There is a private dwelling close to the tower, so please be courteous during your visit.
The tower is renowned as the home of Sir John Scot, who was the author of Scot of Scotstarvit’s Staggering State of the Scots Statesmen. The tower was remodelled between 1550 and 1579.
For access to the tower, you can pick up a key from nearby Hill of Tarvit Mansion House, owned by National Trust for Scotland. Outwith the mansion house’s opening hours, you can arrange access in advance by contacting Kellie Castle, also owned by National Trust for Scotland.
