Start from Sliglachan hotel and ride 14km south on the A87. Traffic can be heavy. At Luib, turn off the road and through a gate signposted to Torrin. Take the single track off to the right immediately after the gate and not the rough double track leading to Torrin. Follow this trail which can be boggy and, at times, hard going for nearly 6km then continue south on the bridge on the B8083. Turn right onto the hilly B8083 to the parking which is just after the climb out of the village of Kirkibost 6km’s away. Follow track (signposted Camasunary) from this parking area, climbing steeply and fast decent on rough track to the house and ruin.Stop a moment in the bay to take in your location. Breathtaking – worth the pedal!
Then follow the singletrack out of the bay for 12km, through the heart of the Cuillin Hills that eventually drops you back to the Sligachan Hotel.
This is an epic route which does involve steep trails, the possibility of getting lost (good navigational skills are required), the weather changing quickly and there are several very difficult, technical mountain bike features. If you are in any doubt to whether this trail is for you then we recommend using an experienced guide.
