Strathyre Forest is part of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. This beautiful forest is situated in a classic S-shaped glen that was forged by the last ice age.
The forest is home to a wide range of animals especially deer, red squirrels and forest birds. There are countless waymarked routes and established paths for you to explore on foot, bike and horseback.
In the heart of the forest is the lovely Victorian village of Strathyre. This settlement largely developed after the arrival of the railway in the 1870’s and remains a popular tourist centre.
The area is also steeped in Scottish history and there are many stories related to local legend Rob Roy MacGregor whose grave can be found in the kirkyard at Baquhidder.
