Join world famous locomotive Tornado on ‘The Aberdonian’ steam train for a spectacular journey along the coast to Aberdeen. Step on board from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling for a taste of the golden age of travel this summer.
The train runs along the coast for much of its route, weaving through the countryside and coastal towns, making it an unrivalled way to experience Scotland. On board the train you can sit back in comfortable seats with large windows through which to admire the scenery. Our friendly team will look after you and, if you choose to dine with us, you will be treated to fine Scottish fare, all prepared on board and served at your beautifully laid table.
Passengers from Edinburgh cross the iconic Forth Bridge, whilst those from Glasgow enjoy the spectacular views of Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument before the trains take their north-easterly route from Dundee to Carnoustie. The railway then runs along cliff tops and through lush countryside via the coastal towns of Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven before arriving into Aberdeen’s light and airy station.
Out and back in a day, passengers get around 4 hours in Aberdeen to explore, take an excursion to a local castle or enjoy a whisky tasting!
There are three classes of travel on board, from Tourist Class to Premier Dining. Ticket prices for this return day trip start at £99.
