The Art Room within The Old School offers art for all with it's eclectic gift & craft shop, art gallery with seasonal exhibition programme, & lively creative workshops programmes for ages 9 months plus.
The Art Room within The Old School is in the former Saint Andrews Primary in Dumfries, in the south-west of Scotland. This "Aladdin's Cave" of a gift & craft shop offers handmade products by local, national & international makers as well as a large range of unique & unusual gifts sourced from across the globe. All treasures are complimented by The Art Room's vast windows & natural light, and The Old School's special original features.
Similarly, The Art Room Gallery exhibits the work of local, national & international artists, flowing throughout the whole of The Old School building - from it's glass-roofed balcony down to it's large-walled, grand main foyer. A vibrant seasonal exhibition programme welcomes ever-changing collections of artwork to Dumfries & Galloway.
For any keen art participants there's creative workshops programmes for ages 9 months plus! The popular Busybug programme offers messy & creative play sessions for under 5s, the after-school & Saturday morning workshops busy 5 - 11 year olds with a broad spectrum of art & crafts, the 12 - 18's programme is for any budding young artists amongst us, and the adults' programme ranges from evening classes to full-day workshops in anything from willow weaving to Trichinopoly (Viking Knitting!)!
