I have been woodturning for over 25 years and teaching the craft on and off for more than 20 years. I have taught for schools and demonstrated to other woodturners and the public at various club venues.
Recently I decided to offer 1 and 2 day courses. These are predominately one to one teaching but due to demand I will also take two students together as long as they are partners, friends or relatives.
This is by far the best way to start woodturning. You can learn at your own speed without feeling under any pressure. I’ll push you a little but it’s your course at your pace. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can learn the basics.
My heated workshop has 2 professional lathes, a Hegner HDB 200XL and a VB 36 Master Bowlturner. Dust extraction is out to an adjoining store with additional Micromesh ceiling filter.
Woodturning is an incredibly rewarding and fun hobby. I will teach you traditional skills using a range of tools and equipment. At the end of your course you will go home with some pieces you have made and the knowledge that you can build on the skills you have learned.
Your course can be just a fun day out or the start of a new and rewarding hobby. It’s up to you.
