Cycling tours by electric bike are great fun.
We offer a fantastic way to explore the beauty of The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in a spectacular part of Scotland. Take in dramatic loch and mountain views, with picnic and cafe stops along the way.
Let the ebike take the strain as you pedal the distance and tackle the hills with ease! Riders of mixed abilities and fitness can ride easily together.
Most people with a standard level of fitness can ride much further on an ebike than on a standard bike and can complete the route comfortably within the time.
We allow time for plenty for stops to hear about the flora and fauna, local history, folklore and legends, to rest a while and appreciate the scenery, to take photos and have refreshments. We even provide some Scottish specialities with local links to sample en route.
We offer four varied tours:
Loch Katrine Explorer Tour - 28 miles on a private lochside road. Embark on a Trossachs adventure through fabulous scenery on the banks of Loch Katrine, which inspired one of Sir Walter Scott’s best known poems ‘Lady of the Lake'. The virtually traffic-free route hugs the banks of the loch to Brenachoile point (used as a setting in the series Outlander) and onwards to Stronachlachar, with spectacular views up and down the water. A cafe stop at Stronachlachar is a must. This wild country was home to Rob Roy MacGregor, Scotland's own Robin Hood folk hero, and is steeped in ancient Clan history. The location also has a more recent and fascinating Victorian heritage. 4-5 hours.
Sail and Cycle Tour - embark with an ebike onto the historic steamship SS Sir Walter Scott, 125 years old in 2025. Enjoy an hour-long leisurely cruise to Stronachlacher at the head of the loch and cycle 14 miles back along the banks of Loch Katrine to Trossachs Pier. 4 hours.
Goat Ice Cream Tour - enjoy a short guided ebike tour through the forest to Loch Achray and Achray Farm, home to Nicola's small herd of milking goats. Meet the farmer and her goats, sample her artisan ice cream and hear how she creates flavours with homegrown and foraged ingredients. Return to Trossachs Pier by ebike. 3-4 hours.
Evening Tour - See the best of Loch Katrine, and possibly some of the more elusive wildlife when everyone else has gone home. Cycle to the highest viewpoint on the route, stop awhile to take in the evening quiet and admire the view, and taste some local whisky and sweet treats before returning the same way we came. There's still plenty to see and lots of local history to hear about on this shorter, quieter version of the classic tour. 2 hours.
Tours depart from Katrine Wheelz bike Hire at Trossachs Pier, 10 miles from Callander via the A821, where there is ample pay and display parking.
Ebike hire, helmet and services of a friendly and knowledgeable local guide are included in the price.
Small groups of no more than 6 people allow for a relaxed and intimate experience. Private tours for two or more can be accommodated at a supplement.
Please note, ebike riders must be over 14 years of age.
Tours run in all weathers April to October.
Cost from £130 to £150 per person. Exclusive private tour supplement £250 per group.
