We offer exhilarating riding off the beaten track, through stunning scenery on our experienced horses or with opportunities for riders to bring their own horses. The ‘pop-up’ nature of our business takes us on adventures all over the wilds of west Scotland. We ride through soaring mountains, quiet hills, gentle meadows and woodlands. Our riding can include with opportunities to play on the beach and paddle in the sea.
Our riding adventures range from a half day treks to week long all-inclusive holiday packages with the choice of ‘wild west’ style camping with the horses to more luxury options including beach side accommodation or even hot tubs!
From April to October Cara, Nikki and The Herd will be running an action packed calendar of events from half day rides to week long all-inclusive riding holidays, popping up throughout the wilds of West Scotland. See below for our itinerary or contact us at email@example.com for our scheduled holidays.
In addition to our scheduled itinerary we offer bespoke packages for groups and special occasions. For example we have created magical honeymoon riding experiences, special tailor made birthday picnic rides and are even about to do our first wedding beach ride; as well as delivering bespoke packages for larger groups such as University Riding Clubs.
The Wilder Ways adventures already planned for this year include:
Two months of exhilarating riding along Argyll’s Secret Coast. This little known part of Scotland is a hidden gem with a fabulous range of exciting riding opportunities including secret coves and bays, woodland trails, open hill land and lochs. In the evening you have the opportunity to relax in the infinity pool and hot tubs at Portavadie Marina, always a truly magical end to a hard day in the saddle. During both months we will also run week long point to point rides right across Cowal for the really adventurous amongst you.
The Wilder Ways team will be heading off grid to Scotland’s last true wilderness in the west, Knoydart, a peninsula but only accessible by boat. We'll be riding through breath-taking mountain scenery that changes with each bend in the path, through deep rivers and stony fords. Or come scrambling around the coast with spectacular views out to 'The Small Isles', Rum, Eigg and Skye, and try some real off-road adventuring - are you up for it?
The team heads back to their home turf in the north of Cowal to enjoy the exquisite lighting and landscapes of the area. From hill to glen and river to sea, you will be enjoying spectacular mountain views, the glassy reflections on Loch Eck and the iridescent sunsets of Loch Fyne. Opportunities to sample exquisite local seafood and enjoy a local craft beer sitting on the shores of Loch Fyne with the horses grazing happily beside you. On September 3rd – 9th you can join Wilder Ways on their voyage home from Argyll’s Secret Coast all the way along the spine of Cowal peninsula and along the mirror loch.
The herd set sail again to enjoy the beautiful Hebridean Isle of Islay. We have put together an exciting programme of riding adventures, so you can explore some of the stunning scenery of this beautiful island. Enjoy a 7km golden beach, cliff-top paths, woodland trails and hills and, for the adventurous, some of the most extreme wilderness riding available. There'll also be time to see some local heritage and drop by one of the distilleries to sample some of the famous Islay malt whisky.
