Leith Community Pottery

Leith Community Pottery is a social enteprise run by expert potter Andy Lang, who has been producing high-quality stoneware, using a rare and specialized technique that creates distinctive glazes and finishes, for almost 40 years.
Andy, known as the "Potter of Leith," is a dedicated ceramics artist and instructor who has a bachelor’s degree in Ceramics from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. Over the years, he explored other fields, including songwriting and health and social care, while maintaining his passion for working with clay.
Leith Community Pottery is a testament to his dedication and passion. As well as selling his unique pottery to the public, he also provides free and donation-based access to courses for individuals facing mental health challenges, dementia, social exclusion, and isolation. The income generated from course fees and retail sales is used to support this initiative.
The studio functions as a social enterprise, with three main objectives: producing reduction-fired stoneware for retail and commissions, offering pottery courses and workshops, and providing free access to those in need.
