Situated just off the High Street and close to the River Tay and the North Inch park, Provender Brown is the perfect place to grab some goodies before heading off for a picnic. This wonderful shop is crammed full of speciality food and drink from all over the world but has a particularly large selection of Scottish produce from small producers, such as Dunkeld Smokery, Inverawe, Rannoch Smokery, Brodies, Shortbread House of Edinburgh, Great Glen Game and Simple Simon Pies, to name but a few. Scottish produce includes cheeses, ham, bacon, sausages, pies, patés, quiches, Stornoway black pudding, ice cream, yoghurt, biscuits, shortbread, cakes, chocolate, confectionery, oatmeal, preserves, smoked salmon & trout, smoked meats & game, salami, whisky, gin, vodka, rum, soft drinks and even local wine.
The friendly staff are knowledgeable and helpful and will happily guide you through the range, offering tasting samples along the way. They can also put together picnics or hampers and platters of sandwiches, cheeses, meats or anti-pasti.
There is no café but they cater for the lunchtime trade with a good selection of freshly-made sandwiches, homemade soup, cake, tea & coffee on a take-away basis.
