The Burns Bunnet is a unique, authentic tam o'shanter and was created by John Burleigh at the end of 2008. It is handmade from pure new wool in Greenock, Scotland.
The Burns Bunnet design was created by John Burleigh at the end of 2008, when he started out making one or two for fun to be worn at weddings and other occasions. Soon after, people started complimenting the rich tartan fabric which made John realise there was a market for his unique headwear. Famous faces have worn the Burns Bunnet including Usain Bolt, Jesse Wallace, Nicola Benedetti and James Nesbitt to name a few.
Burns Bunnets are distinctive from other ‘tammies’ and ‘bonnets’ in that the Burns Bunnet can be used for dress occasions and is of high quality. They can be made to order - John will do his best to source any tartan of choice.
John began promoting the bunnets whenever and wherever he could – securing coverage in local news at first – then leading to press coverage in broadsheet newspapers such as the Glasgow Herald. He was also invited to talk about his Burns Bunnets on STV’s The Hour. Fellow Scottish entrepreneur Michelle Mone commented that John could well follow in her footsteps… Burns Bunnets were on the map!
