Join the MacBackpackers clan for a fun filled festive adventure this Christmas!22nd December
We start out nice and early (8am from Castle Rock Hostel) to make the most of the daylight and head straight into the heart of the snow capped Highlands - Experience tales of Clan rebellion, romance and betrayal, beauty and brutality in stark contrast to each other as you step into the history steeped and snowy silent Highlands. George R.R. Martin has nothing on Scottish history.
We stop off for some whisky tasting to take away the chill before heading to Inverness for a drinks reception, and a night of laughs and relaxation.
23rd December
We set off for a cheeky wee bit of Nessie hunting, and a bracing swim for the very, VERY brave among the group. Battlefields, Glens, Lochs and Castles are today's agenda as we make our way deeper into the Highlands across the Corrieshalloch Gorge and take in the beautiful scenery of Torridon before crossing the water to the Isle of Skye!
24th December - Christmas Eve!
Winter scenery provides a perfect backdrop for our full day on Skye.We will hike up to one of the islands more distinctive rock formations, the Old Man of Storr, with some of the finest viewpoints anywhere in the world. Tonight its off to the local for some Christmas Eve entertainment! (And a cheeky dram or seven...)
25th December - Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas! Toast the morning with a glass of bubbly over breakfast followed by a wee jaunt taking in the views of the neighbouring islands. Then it's time for the best bit! Christmas dinner in an awesome local restaurant, and an afternoon of festive fun.
Taking it easy (mind the hangovers!), we say goodbye to the misty isle and head south taking in views of the Nevis range and Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. We’ll discover the haunting beauty of Glen Coe and hear tales of clan massacres before continuing our journey through ‘braveheart country’ and onwards to Edinburgh for some heartfelt goodbyes.
