This super walk takes in Ben Vrackie, a great viewpoint above Pitlochry, and the scenic Pass of Killiecrankie and its spectacular gorge. At the end of the walk, we should be able to call into the Moulin Inn for some refreshments.
Starting in the small settlement of Moulin just above Pitlochry, we walk up the popular tourist path to the summit of Ben Vrackie - known locally as “the Ben”. On the way, we'll tell you about the old hut circles on Moulin Moor. The summit of Ben Vrackie is a great viewpoint. In good weather, it offers superb views in all directions. From the summit, we descend towards the Pass of Killiecrankie and its spectacular gorge. We'll then return to Moulin. If there's time we'll finish with some refreshments at the old Moulin Inn (hopefully the open fire will be on!).
The walk starts and finishes at Moulin. We'll start walking by 09:30. The walk is 17km long with a total ascent of around 950m. It will take about 7 hours and we should finish in Moulin by 16:30.
The walk follows mainly good paths and tracks, but with some wetter ground in a few places.
