Best of Lowland Scotland in a Day
Visit some of the best that the Lowlands has to offer in a single day; Rosslyn Chapel, Melrose Abbey, Craigmillar Castle and more.
This region of Scotland has so much beauty and history, just waiting for you to discover. Visit Craigmillar Castle on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Journey to the partly ruined Melrose Abbey. Founded by the Cistercian Monks in 1136 at the request of King David I of Scotland. Feel the passion that Scotland’s most famous writer, Sir Walter Scott, put into the design and style of his baronial styled country home, Abbotsford House. If you watched The Da Vinci Code, based on Dan Browns novel, you will need no introduction to Rosslyn Chapel. Still used as a place of worship today, this exquisite building was the work of William St Clair, 3rd Prince of Orkney, in the hope of securing himself a place in Heaven. The interior is truly breath-taking.
